Above all else

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.-Proverbs 4:23
I saw this passage on my friends' facebook status and I really liked it.  We must guard our hearts so that it stays pure and true so that we may trust in it.  However, if we always have a guarded heart we will never learn to love and grow.  Opening the heart to another is a beautiful thing and trusting in it will allow us to grow. I truly believe in life we must follow our hearts because every decision we make throughout our lives has consequences. But if we trust and have faith in our hearts and God they will lead us down the right path.

Social Justice

As an education major I feel teaching elementary students about social justice is extremely beneficial.   With all the events happening across the world these are the times to teach the future of our country how something occurring halfway around the world affects us.  How do we teach students to care about people across the country?  Well I believe the first step to this is teaching them how to be active in their own community and care about helping the homeless, the hungry, and the poor.  If students can realize they can make a difference in their community they may start to think of how they can make a difference in another country that has been struck by tragedy.  Encouraging students to care about others is a great way educators can help shape young students into the adults they will one day become.

Viewing Blogs

After viewing the random blogs I decided that I wanted to make mine more decorative.  I also wanted to add more pictures with a pretty title.  I will be able to figure this out by playing around with different things on the blog creator.

Borrowed Word Poem

 "Unspoken Love"
It all happened; one small moment in time
I felt that my heart was smothered in twine
All the years had been chipped through in one phone call
There were no fights, at last, no screams; no brawls
Something had come and collected my deepest love
With glistening eyes, fists ready to shove
Healing took over; the keys to my heart
The bits and the pieces, every last part
It came just in time, not a moment too soon
The withered love in my life, began to bloom
What once was fragile, distant, and broken
Is now mended through words of love unspoken

Where I'm From

"Home is Where the Heart is"
Home is where the heart is
At home there is laughter and love
At home there is family and hugs
Home is where the heart is
Sounds of the little ones playing
Smells of spaghetti cooking
Home is where the heart is
 All my family gathered round
Someone always there to pick you off the ground
Home is where my heart is
